I, like many other wordpress users are going through the upgrade to 2.5. I thought everything was going very smoothly, until I had a small problem with uploading an image. It didn’t exist on my machine, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out why it exists on my host. I guess I’m going to have to hunt down the problem.

So sad, I was going to show you the wordpress logo here, but I can’t.

I really like the new admin design, and I really like how most of it functions.

I’ve been mulling about a re-design for sometime. And rather then re-invent a new layout, I decided to look around for one that already exists. There are a lot of talented designers floating around that I think did a better job then I could. Lot’s of other talented designers. So thanks to 5thirtyone.com - you made a good site.

A few things in the design will force me to try and re-organize my categories. Over time, they’ve become a bit jumbled, and the handy archive button in the navigation shows some of the goop that I’ve tried. I’ve got a few years of clean up.

Well, it’s a new year, and it’s time to upgrade my WordPress. There might be a few hiccups along the way.

Alright, so I’ve tried to run a tumblelog from wordpress and I’m not a fan of it. So, I’m going to scrap it, and go right to the masters of the process tumblr. If you want to watch me there, go right ahead, whoisnick.tumblr.com

I’ve been looking around and playing with the idea of a tumblelog. I’ve taken a look at tumblr, and it’s alright, but I’m not sure if having a separate site for that would be best. So, I’ve added a tumble category. While I’m playing with it, I’ve suppressed it for all you feed reader folk.

I was sitting back and wondering, what If you don’t want to get every post? Maybe you just want to see my creations? Maybe you just want to see what I’ve got to share?

Now with the help of feedburner, I’ve created multiple feeds: one for each!

• Creations Only - Only posts under “create”.
• What do I Think? - Only posts under “think”
• Sharing with the class - Only posts under “share”

I’m shutting down my reviews and apoet projects. Not that I’m going to stop writing poems or going to stop seeing movies, but I’m going to be integrating into one site. I think they fall nicely into the create & share categories. I’m create mod_rewrite entries (a.k.a.t.n.t. redirects) for all the posts, so if you’ve got any bookmarked, they should still work.

I’ve been working on a new look and feel. Something a little more sparse then before. Something I think, I’d like to stick with for a bit ( but who knows, I could get the itch again). For those reading this through a feed, please come on by. Here’s the run down of new-ities

Simplified Categories - I’ve dumbed down the categories. Just 3 should do: create, think & share. Oh ya, and a general. I wasn’t known for having large number of categories, but I think the big 3 should do. I’ve kept the archives with their previous categories so anyone with bookmarks, you’re still good. It’s a moving forward thing.

Feedburner RSS - I’m getting on the bandwagon. Who’s reading through my feed? It might be because of the google acquisition, or maybe all the hype simply reminded me “oh ya, I wanted to switch to them.” Anyway, if you are viewing from a feed, please switch the URL to http://feeds.feedburner.com/whoisnick.

Feedburner Email Subscriptions - For those who are emailed my posts through the wordpress subscription. I found the feedburner also can help with that too. I though it best to use them for that as well, so please, if You’ve subscribed via email, get an email subscription through feedburner.

Facebook Status - I’ve tied into facebook, I can now use my addiction to let the world know what I’m doing.

Various Pages - About Page, Archive Page, Contact Page? I’m actually creating pages other then posts? I didn’t think I would, but I’m thinking it would be nice. Hopefully soon, I’ll add on a portfolio page, I do do contract work, hint hint….

Well, that’s it for now. I might add more fun later.

Although I watch a lot of movies, I don’t necessarily have the time to sit down and critique them. So, I’m stopping that sub site, and bringing them into my main blog, hence my additional of adding ratings. I can now, put up a simple post. When the time or inspiration strikes, I might expand, but now, I don’t feel that I need to.
