Flock has been slowly changing, and I haven’t been paying attention. I took a look about a year ago and thought…”meh” what’s the deal? I don’t think it’s that social. But now, I’m looking at it, and it really does seem to add that extra littlebit for internet socialization. Matter of fact, I’m blogging from it right now….fancy no?

Just got my new Mac Laptop. This will be fun for a bit!
Took a bit of time to decide to go laptop. I worked on an emac for some time. So why the change?
Mobility. Mobility, Mobility.
I’ve been looking at everything I have and how they time me down. The mac ties me to a specific chair in a specific room. No ability for change, that is, without money for some re-decorating.
I’ve been mixing thing up, by using more web application that allow mobility: google calendar, google reader, gmail, Remember The Milk, del.icio.us. Each allows me the ability to check my email, or tasks anywhere.
So what about my very personal, novel? I don’t want it on google docs. I don’t want it on my webhost. I don’t want it anywhere but my own personal computer. Enter my new toy, the mac laptop.
It can go anywhere I go.

Been playing around with 10.4 all night. Some minor alteration needed after I installed it: needed to re-set apache to my liking, and I’ve got this unknown user in my user list…I must have been screwing around with it? But other then that I can now officially say that 10.4 kicks!
widgets
when 10.4 originally came out and widgets where explained I wasn’t personally hyped about them. They really aren’t anything special. And from my perspective, they are totally outside of the “Mac Design”. And after playing with them, I still don’t think there is anything special. Nothing a good RSS feed or homepage couldn’t answer.
safari rss
I’m pretty much hooked on syndication. I’m not going to say RSS because not everyone is using that format, there are also older flavours like RDF or the newer Atom
Safari handles these like a dream! the xslt they’ve got running to transform these are beautiful, searchable and practical. Plus something really cool! If you’ve got FOAF, pay close attention to the bottom right corner…it’s awwsome!

So, fingers were crossed, eye’s squinted like Clint Eastwood in his westerns…and go! I’ve now upgraded to OSX 10.4 Tiger. Does this mean I can now say “I’m Grrrreat!”?
Still new for me so I’m going through and figuring all the wonderful features and tools out. So far, I like the safari RSS reader. Need to look into it some more to but so far I likesit.

It seems that with the launch of the new Podcast Subscriptions through
iTunes, they had more then One Million
subscribers in less 2 days. That’s just the number of subscribers. How
many are out there that submitted their podcasts?
I must admit, it’s something that I’ve been thinking about. Could I
have some form of regular weekly PodCast? I’ve got the software and the
hardware to do it…hmmm. Maybe something for the idea block, maybe I
could piggy back between blogging and podding.
